Heirlooms on Display

I have a collection of brooches and pins that belonged to my mom, my grandmother (my dad's mom), and to me. I enjoy wearing them, but they are really too pretty to keep in a drawer. So, I found this beautiful frame at T.J. Maxx that already had a mat with four openings in it.
I took the glass out, then I glued batting onto the cardboard piece that was inside the frame, and then covered the batting with a creamy brocade fabric. I pulled the fabric around to the back of the cardboard to hold it taut, and glued it. (I don't have step by step photos because I made this about 3 years ago). Then I put it all back together. The batting serves as a sort of cushion that the pins can stick into. It hangs in my bathroom. It makes a unique decorative piece with great sentimental value, and provides a practical place to keep special accessories right on hand for that perfect finishing touch to whatever I might be wearing.

This is a great idea & so pretty! I think I'm going to do that. I have several pins that belonged to Mike's mother and a few of my own. I don't wear them often, so if I put them on display, everybody will be able to enjoy them.
Thanks!

I did something similar to this however there are some problems. 1) Mine falls off the wall a lot. Often waking us up.
2) I only have about 5 pins on mine. I think someone is hogging all of the heirlooms. I'm just saying.

Maybe it's a good thing there aren't alot of heirlooms on yours since it keeps falling off the wall.
