Pepperoni Bread #1

I posted a pepperoni bread recipe in August of this year. It was a supper bread, made with Bisquick. This is different, in that it is a yeast bread made with homemade bread dough. My cousin, Connie gave me the recipe several years ago. It is very easy and can be made with frozen roll dough if you do not have a bread machine.

Pepperoni Bread

1 recipe basic bread dough
1 pkg pepperoni
grated cheddar or freshly grated Parmesan cheese
black olives
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp basil

Prepare dough in bread machine. Roll out 1/2 the dough onto a lightly floured surface with a floured rolling pin. Combine basil and egg and brush a generous amount onto dough. Cover with pepperoni slices, cheese, and olives. Roll up and slice into 3/4 to 1 inch slices. Lay each one, cut side up, in a greased baking dish. Brush with remaining egg mixture. Cover and allow to rise in a warm place for about an hour. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.

Prepare bread dough:

Roll out onto a floured surface:

Combine egg with basil:

Brush onto dough. I really like the new silicone brushes. They are just cleaner than the old kind and they don't rust.

Place pepperoni onto dough:

Top with Parmesan cheese and olives:

Roll up:

Slice:

Place in baking dish and bake at 350. The flavor and aroma of this bread is incredible.
It is great to serve with a green or pasta salad for a simple, but yummy, dinner.
